About Firefly Childcare

Space to Grow in a Positive Environment.

We provide a home from home environment in a rural location. Firefly is in operation since April 2022 as a full day care service and prior to this we provided a Montessori sessional service and a childminding service for over 10 years. The ethos of both services has been and will continue to be holistic, providing for the child’s physical needs and social and emotional wellbeing.

Due to an increased need for full day care, a separate childminding service was opened along side the Montessori school. Through word of mouth, this filled very quickly and led to a long waiting list.

We have since increased our space and in April 2022 opened a full day care service that is Firefly Daycare, a family run service in a rural setting.

Why I started…. About Tara…

Tara has been working in Childcare for almost 25 years and on leaving school, studied childcare in Portobello, where I gained my Childcare and Montessori Teaching qualifications. In 2018 I started a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Early Childhood Education and Care with Carlow IT Wexford.

Throughout my training I have learned of the importance of the education and care given to children in the early years.

Tara loves to see all children progress. My goal is to see children of all abilities achieve their best & grow up to be strong, confident & kind.

Our aim is to provide an inclusive environment where children of all abilities are given the freedom to learn and develop , at their own pace, enabling them to become physically and socially independent, happy, confident children.

Our passion is seeing each child flourish in their own time, which we achieve by providing the best possible early learning experiences through quality interactions and co-regulation. Our environment provides age and stage of development appropriate activities that enable children to achieve a love of learning. It is influenced by Montessori and our National curriculum, Aistear and encourages exploration, creativity and imagination where all children have a voice and are treated with respect.
